Frequently Asked Questions from A Better Roofing Company in Seattle, Washington
Q: Where do I start?
A: Contact our office via phone, email, or by filling out our contact form
. Our company will actually climb up onto your roof to get accurate measurements so that we may give you the best price possible.
We also like to be on the roof to ensure that we have evaluated everything including the chimney, skylights, flashings, and pipes. The only exception to this is a roof that is too steep to walk on. Be wary of contractors that only do ground measurements.
Next, we will write up your free, no-obligation proposal. We prefer to present this to you in person. This way we can educate and advise you about the different products available, as well as what would best suit your particular needs.
Q: How do I ensure that I choose the right roofing contractor?
A: The best steps to take can be found in our pamphlet
, which is included with all of our proposals.
Q: We've chosen A Better Roofing Company to do our roof. What's the next step?
A: Once you have made the decision to have us do your project, simply contact our office. We will schedule an appointment for our representative to meet with you. Next, you and your representative will write down your specific choices regarding various options such as colors, styles, products, and warranties.
We will keep you apprised of our schedule on a regular basis. Approximately 2 days before the crew is to start the project, the roofing materials will be delivered. As the day of the project gets closer, the frequency of the communication increases.
Q: What should I expect when the roofers show up?
A: When our crew shows up, they assess the best way to do the project from start to finish. Examples of what may be included in their initial assessment are which section to start first, and how to best protect the home, plants, and shrubbery. They will also confirm the power source, and address any unique concerns pertaining to the project.
Q: How is the process completed?
A: Our office will contact you to set up an appointment to conduct a final walk-through. At this appointment, our manager will check to ensure that the roof has been completed to manufacturer's specifications and, more importantly, to our exacting standards. The manager will check the roofing shingles, flashings, venting, gutters, and final cleanup. The manager will also address any questions or concerns that you may have as well.
Q: What can I expect in the future with my new roof?
A: You will have the pleasure of knowing that your re-roofing experience exceeded your expectations and more importantly, that your new roof looks fantastic. Your new roof should be virtually maintenance and trouble free for years to come.
Q: Do you have any tips for selecting the right roof color and style for my home?
A: Think big. View a full-sized shingle, not just a swatch, sample, or piece of literature. Once you've narrowed down your color choices to just a few, have your representative bring you actual shingles to look at. If you desire, he can even place a few on your roof for you so that you can get a true feel of what the finished product will look like.
Q: Does A Better Roofing Company use sub-contractors?
A: We do not use subcontractors, day laborers, or temporary help. Our roofing technicians and installers are our employees and most have been with us for several years. We pay some of the highest rates in the industry to our employees, plus a retirement plan, ensuring a low turnover rate, and in turn, producing employees that really do care about what they do.
Q: How long will it take to do my roof from start to finish?
A: The typical home will take approximately 2–4 days to complete, depending on a number of variables.
